Q: Do you travel a lot?
A: Nope, some but not a lot. Would I like to travel more? Sure but with school, sports and work, travel time is at a premium.
Q: If you don’t travel a lot, how can you think you have expert ideas on this topic? (this question comes from my own self doubting mind)
A: While I don’t take lots of trips, of the ones I take there is usually at least 1 person between the age of 13 and 19. I plan girls weekends with my daughter, adventure trips with her friends and then of course my favorite group to plan for, my family. I do have an inner Julie McCoy that is dying to get out, I just needed to wait until my kids were old enough to appreciate the fun.
Q: Why teens and not in general travel?
A: I know how finicky this age group can be. When I was in high school I started planning the activities that would occur on my family vacations. I think my mother was tired of me complaining. Then in college, I was the spring break coordinator. I picked the place, booked the condo, rented the van, made all the arrangements. It was kind of my thing.
Most of all, I love family vacations. I think other people do too, but like I said this age group is so finicky; hot and cold with things. Who is crazy enough to plan a trip with people who will “hate” something, be “literally dying” and then so happy? Me.
Q: Do you have complete trips planned out?
A: Not yet but as I take a trip I will share my itineraries with my notes. I will add some past trips as well.
